As a new media owner, we have had the chance to build our culture and values starting with a blank sheet of paper.  To have the chance to build our people and culture based on what we care about and what we believe a modern media company looks like has itself been a real privilege.  We believe a modern media company should be diverse across all groups, including more female leaders. When building our culture and values, this was at the forefront.

Pressing for progress for women within our industry, we launched our Inspiration program in 2016. 11 unique events later, we have seen a varied range of female leaders speaking and sharing their experiences, challenges and life lessons.

Getting involved and supporting International Women’s Day has been very important to us. Following our launch of our brand campaign ‘Your Outdoor’, putting the power of out-of-home advertising in the hands of our partners, we wanted to give our employees the opportunity to have their say - ‘Your International Women’s Day’.

We gave every member of our team, male and female, the opportunity to put forward three votes for women throughout history who they see as inspirational. We’ve collated all the votes and have chosen our 8 women, so here they are (in no particular order):

  • Oprah Winfrey
  • Anne Frank
  • Marie Curie
  • Amelia Earhart
  • Rosa Parks
  • Katie Piper
  • Michelle Obama
  • Princess Diana

A fine selection we think and very worthy of celebration, so today, we will be doing just that across our portfolio of premium digital screens up and down the country.

There is much more to come from 8 in this space as we continue to grow, and we look forward to sharing that. In the meantime, Happy International Women’s Day one and all!
